Halloween

Evie had a pretty fun Halloween this year. She had a fun Halloween party at daycare, complete with "Spooky Bowling" and of course treats! That evening we went to Prestonwood's Fall Festival and had lots of fun. I was a little unsure how she would do wearing her costume as she was not fond of it when we tried it on the first time, but the crying stopped once we got to the festival and she realized everyone else was wearing a costume! She was quite a busy body (as usual) and went from one game to the next. She definitely was obsessed with doing anything that had to do with a "ball" her favorite word for the past 2 weeks.  Evie played until the festival closed and even got a couple pieces of candy (a very special treat)!

Evie all ready for her daycare party
Our little OWL ready to have fun!

Evie had no fear bouncing with the big kids and even going down a slide all by herself! (the previous girl had gone on her tummy so Evie followed suite)
Dad giving Evie a pep talk before she entered the bounce house
 Dad and Evie
 Riding a bike with Gramma
 Playing a ball game
 Mowing the grass
Practically begging to go on a horse...mom was a little apprehensive
Well she acted fearless but once she got up close she was all tears and scared to death of those ponies
She recovered fast though and back to the games
 Candy break!
Football game!

Pumpkin Carving

Evie experienced her first pumpkin carving this Halloween. She had lots of fun helping scrape out the seeds with a spoon and watch Daddy carve the face. She wasn't too keen on the slimy stuff on her though. I thought my "dirt and rock" lovin girl wouldn't mind, but I guess there is a limit!

TADA! What a cool looking pumpkin!

16 months

Well since time flew by and my "15 month" post never happened, 16 months will do. Evie is 16 months and definitely becoming more Toddler and MUCH less Baby (tear). It is crazy that it is hard to even remember when she would just be content laying on her play mat and just stare at her animals--not so anymore! She is always on the GO and truly NEVER stops. She is definitely curious and mischievous I would say. One minute she is ripping our wallpaper off, the next she is tearing every pot and pan out of the cabinet, and the next she is pulling out all of my shoes from the closet. Yes, most days the only thing I can say I did for the day is chased after her trying to not let her destroy the house! Here are some other things she has been up to:
  • She is being very stubborn in the "word" picking up--she understands pretty well but refuses to repeat or try to sound new words. She says "mom", "daddy", "doggie", "hi", "ball", "baby", "baa" and a monkey sound. I think I just attribute it to her stubborn nature.
  • She definitely throws fits--a lot! I can even call it before it is about to happen. They do make me laugh a little as it is cute in an odd way.
  • She still is in the 50th percentile--weight and height, with still a round little baby belly (the one thing I got left)
  • She does know a lot of her body parts and can point to about any one we say
  • Picky, picky, picky--when it comes to food I mean. She LOVES pasta and will eat chicken and hotdogs, maybe some fruit here or there but vegetables usually get tossed on the floor (yes we are working on that).
  • Oh yes we have instigated "time-outs" as we have learned "no" has NO affect on this child. We are still trying to figure all that "discipline" stuff out as I know she understands a lot but not everything.
  • It is the era of "EHH"---all I hear ALL DAY LONG. Kinda ready for some more words, it's not easy being a sleuth all day trying to figure you out.
  • Evie has decided she wants to be attached to me---WAY attached to me. She used to be very independent but not so much anymore. Although when there are people around and the attention is on her, she is always soaking up every bit!
  • She still is an outside girl and give her a pile of rocks and she will be amused for hours! She also loves to go to the park and climb on everything!
  • She also has become quite a CHEF! She gets pretty upset if I don't let her help me cook so don't be surprised if she has a cookbook out soon!

Well she definitely keeps us on our toes but we couldn't love that little girl anymore! We are truly blessed to be her parents!

State Fair

A couple weeks ago we went to the Texas State Fair for some good food, fun, well and mostly FOOD! Evie had never been (sadly we never made it last year) so it was a whole new experience and of course she loved it! We went to the Children's Barnyard petting zoo, the "Hands on the Farms" exhibit, car show, and of course trying out some new state fair "creations".

Big Tex--Evie was pretty much in awe of this large man who "talked"

Eating some free samples---yum ice cream!
 Shopping for some groceries
 Elsie the Borden cow
The Children's petting zoo---Evie was in heaven!
 Feeding the goats

Just gazing at all the animals
This cow had some crazy hair

The adorable little lamb (I really wanted to take that one home)
Evie loved playing with the shovels
Then we had to pause as Evie wanted to show us her "bellybutton"
 Back to the animals
Helping out on the farm---the cutest exhibit ever. Taught kids all the chores on the farm and they even got paid at the end and could buy a snack!

 Planting some vegetable seeds
 Riding the tractor

Evie not so sure about the swine
We next headed to the rides and car show and we looked down and Evie was OUT. So I guess next ear we will show her the rest of the fair!
