Gardening

We started a garden in early spring and I spent a lot of time planning what to plant, where to plant and how to keep the rabbits out! Evie had fun helping us build it (she liked to "knock" the nails i.e. "hammer". We even learned how to compost--although I wasn't too successful at that. Now let's see if I can get anything to grow....

Evie's first "Salon" experience

Evie got her first haircut when she was 2 and that's pretty much all it was--a haircut. Her second one was a little bit different. I decided try a different kid's haircut place and my oh my was it an experience! She got to sit in an airplane watching Dora while she got her haircut, then she got a real manicure, then she got sparkly hearts on her cheek, and then she got to pick out a new hair clip and finally a sucker! I don't think they left anything out! I might have to wait awhile for the next one as I think they set the standard a little TOO high!

Valentines Day

We went out to the lake for Valentines Day and had fun just the three of us--complete with homemade Valentines nutella poptarts!

Polar Express

One day we drove out to Grapevine and went on the Polar Express train. We got to sing Christmas Carols, meet the train conductor, take a picture with Santa and take a ride to the North Pole finished with some hot chocolate! The kids loved it!

Christmas at the Lakehouse

We spent two weeks with my family at the Lakehouse and it was SO MUCH FUN! We started off the week going to a nearby Christmas tree farm to find the perfect tree!

Then it was time to trim the tree!

And the princesses always have to have a special tea party with Grandma

We sat around a lot and just enjoyed the beautiful lake and weather--surprisingly warm in December!

Making Gingerbread houses--although Evie just wanted to eat the candy....

Having a movie night with their new sleeping bags

 Frosting Christmas cookies

All ready for church. We went to the small Methodist church in town and it was so neat as Evie and Penelope got to be in the Christmas play the kids put on. It was like a scene from The Christmas Pageant. They were pretty cute little angels!

Being best buds--well for 5 seconds :)

To our surprise it started snowing while we were finishing up Christmas dinner and we had so much fun playing in it! What an awesome white Christmas it was!
