Water FUN!

Summer is HERE! And we have been keeping cool either at our neighborhood pool, splash parks, or our backyard kiddie pool. Evie loves to be outside and has NO FEAR when it comes to the water (which has actually been a scary thing!). But we are definitely having lots of fun--even if it is 100 degrees!

The little bathing beauty, ready to swim!

Let's GO Guys!

Up High on Dad's shoulders

Time for a snack! Well really just a nibble on a STICK!

And....she's OFF!

I LOVE SUMMER!

Sliding down her elephant slide

WEEEEE!

Playing with her sprinkler, although she is definitely more interested in the hose...

And some more STICKS! (at least she likes CHEAP entertainment!)

11 months

In less than 1 month our little girl wil be ONE YEAR Old! My how fast a year goes! She is definitely more TODDLER than baby and her personality is really starting to develop! I have even seen the beginning of small little "fits" when she doesn't get what she wants or I take something away she wants. They kinda make me laugh a little as she still is super cute when she makes her little "pouty" faces! It also makes me realize how grown up she is getting as she is understanding what she does want and what makes her upset. Here are some things she is up to:

  • She "talks" a lot and it really sounds like she is having a full conversation with herself complete with intonations.
  • She says "Dah-DEE" and starting to say "Buh-bye", but somehow she refuses to say "ma-ma" as she used to a month ago.
  • We have started weaning the bottle and have begun whole milk. Evie doesn't seem to notice at all so I think this transition will be easy.
  • She still continues to be a GREAT sleeper with 11-12 hours at night with  two 1 1/2-2 hour naps. She even reaches out for her crib when it is time to sleep and goes to sleep immediately.
  • Her favorite place is to be outside and she even gets upset when we have to go inside. Her favorite thing is to find big "sticks" and "rocks"--definitely not a girly-girl!
  • I am beginning to see that she has literally NO FEAR. She will try anything and definitely does things I would never think she would attempt!
  • She loves to give "kisses" (well this is more of her opening her mouth close to you) and she thinks it is hilarious when you think you are getting a kiss but she leans in and BITES your nose!
  • She loves when Dad hides and scares her--she just laughs, and laughs, and laughs!

Evie loves her baths!

And loves to go through Mom's purse

Evie is SO BIG!

Grandma's in town!

After almost 6 months of being apart, Grandma Hird came to visit from Indonesia! Papa Hird will come in a couple weeks but for now we get some time just with Grandma. The first night Evie came down with a stomach bug which was subsequently passed on through just the "Hird" related parties so it was quite an eventful week! Through the upset stomachs we still managed to have a fun time!

Grandma stayed almost a week then headed off to see her other granddaughter. We will then all meet up for a week long beach vacation on Emerald Isle in North Carolina. We can't wait!

In 'N Out Adventure

We recently braved the crowds and tried out the new In 'N Out Burger they just built by our house. There is oddly some sort of crazy following of this burger joint and I am not quite sure why. Years back we went to it in California (the ORIGINAL location) and had an interesting experience with an inebriated group of teenagers who actually bought our meals--odd I say. I didn't get it then and I still don't get it except for the fact that it is CHEAP. And a good burger and fries for CHEAP is always great in my book! Now the waiting in line for over 30 minutes and then a little more for our food, I am not sure about that part though...

 Yummm, french fries!

We also had to eat on the ground as there were not seats....Evie definitely didn't mind!

Pasta Feast!

Evie LOVES pasta and it sure is entertaining to watch her eat it! She sure does make a mess though!
